Dr Abdelali Haoudi, Vice President of Research
Dr Abdelali Haoudi joined Qatar Foundation as VP of Research in 2007. Prior to joining QF he held a Research Professor position in Cancer Biology and Virology at Eastern Virginia Medical School (USA).
Fluent in Arabic, English and French, Dr Haoudi holds a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Genetics, and a M.Sc. in Human, Quantitative and Population Genetics, from Pierre & Marie Curie University and Orsay University (Paris, France). He is also a member of the Royal Academy of Science and Technology in Morocco and has been a recipient of the US Fogarty International Research Award. Dr Haoudi is the Founder and Editor-In-Chief of the Journal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology.
Dr Haoudi has served as a Visiting Professor, Visiting Fellow and has held other academic positions in some of the leading biomedical research institutes in the world, including the Harvard Institute of Proteomics (USA), the National Institutes of Health (USA), The University of Virginia Medical School (USA), Old Dominion University (USA) and Institut Pasteur (France).
In his role as VP of Research, Dr Haoudi is leading one of the three key strategic pillars for QF, the other two being Education and Community Development, that will create a platform for innovation and help to foster a culture of quality and excellence in Qatar, and he represents Qatar Foundation at national, regional and international research forums and conferences.
Dr Haoudi oversees QF’s research strategy, which complements Qatar-based research efforts with expertise from abroad to build networks that provide home grown solutions for Qatar and beyond. In 2010, QF launched Qatar Research Institute, which will work with different national stakeholders to form a network of centers to address the national needs of Qatar.
Additionally, Dr Haoudi is the Secretary of Qatar Foundation Strategic Research Board chaired by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser, ensuring the review, monitoring as well as providing opportunities for coordination and integration of research programs and research centers across The Education City.
