Haya Al Nassr, Director of Communication Directorate

As Director of the Communication Directorate, Haya Al Nassr is responsible for developing and implementing cutting-edge communication strategies to support Qatar’s transition to a knowledge-based economy. In her capacity as a member of the Senior Management Team, her central mandate is to ensure QF’s aims, objectives and achievements are successfully communicated to staff, students, the media, stakeholders and the public.

Crucially, she has expanded traditional communication initiatives and established QF as an instantly recognizable, highly-respected brand on the world stage through a combination of innovative communication strategies, strategic partnerships, as well as increased and carefully conceptualized QF participation in official state visits.

External communication accomplishments include presiding over the monumental global ‘Think’ PR campaign and playing a key role in headline-grabbing initiatives such as the Al Fakhoora campaign for improving education opportunities in Gaza - an undertaking that included a weeklong awareness-raising satellite TV channel and a telethon raising 300 million QAR in aid funding.

Under Ms Al Nassr’s leadership, the Communication Directorate has dramatically expanded in scope over the past three years to incorporate social media tools and influential projects such as QF Radio (broadcasting on 93.7 FM), a project that began life on a modest scale but has since expanded to have a nationwide impact with its engaging exposition of QF’s core mission and values.

She has also launched The Foundation (a monthly magazine offering in-depth coverage and analysis of QF projects and achievements) the QFTelegraph (a bi-weekly internal newspaper) and the QF Speakers Bureau, which trains staff to act as incisive spokespeople for both the QF community and the external media.

Ms Al Nassr joined QF as head of the Board Management Office for the Board of Directors in January 2001. Her career has been marked by many notable achievements, including leading the creation of QF Chairperson Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser’s website and the Board Management Office (BMO)’s administration and governing system.

Prior to joining QF, Ms Al Nassr was Head of Research and Information Technology for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qatar. She holds an Executive Masters Degree in Business Administration (EMBA) from the American University of Beirut (2005), a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from Qatar University (1998) and regularly participates in international training programs.

In addition to her role as Communication Director, Ms Al Nassr is Chairperson of the Qatar Luxury Group, and a Member of the Qatar Music Academy Board of Governors, as well as the Board of the Al Jazeera Children’s Channel, Qatar MICE Development Institute and Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing.
